19 Silver Dollars Cache Found with Minelab Explorer SE
When I saw this cement thing I couldn't figure out how or why it was where it was. I was using the Explorer with the 18 inch EXcelerator coil and the hipmount kit I received from Kellyco. I was running in Digital and didn't get any hits around the block of concrete. When I stuck the coil right in front of the block, I was getting a repeatable solid 30. I went back to the truck and got the shovels and started digging. My wife got out the camera and started snapping away. We both had a good feeling about this, but I kept saying this is just too obvious of a place to bury something of value. After I dug about 6 inches I check the hole with the machine again and the hit was still there a solid 30. I was digging straight down and not hitting anything. I started to dig under the block and that's when I hit something.
Explorer SE Finds 1857 Half Dime!
Breaking off about an inch of the plug revealed a small disc which I thought was a button at first. To my surprise and delight, I was holding my second ever half dime dated 1857! It still amazes me how I can think a place is hunted out and I make a find like this...

Minelab Explorer SE Pro
Most detectors on the market operate on a single or dual frequency, ranging from 1 to 70 kilohertz (kHz). Although this technology has served the industry well for years, Minelab found that a frequency that worked well in one area would often offer only marginal performance when used in another location. Ground mineralization, trash content and target size all had an effect on how effective a detector transmitting a single frequency would operate.
The Full Band Spectrum (FBS) circuit automatically transmits multiple frequencies simultaneously. The increased frequency range means that the signal received from the detector coil is analyzed from a wide range of responses. This allows the Explorer SE Professional to analyze more target information so that the Target Identification (ID) is more accurate.

When I first had my detector we were up in Traverse City right in the harbor.I ask the hotel manager if I could metal detect on the beach and he said yes, so in just a few minutes I found 3 dollar bills!!!l you see there was a horse shoe bed there and the manager couldn't find four horse shoes and said he would pay a dollar a shoe. I found the 4 shoes with no problem. he wanted to pay me and I said it wasn't necessary but insisted that i take at least 3 dollars, so you don't have to beat me to accept money. On my next outing the family including my step son and his family.I was metal detecting when my step grand son wanted try. He took over the detector and within 5 minutes found a 1940 gold French(i believe) coin. I later found a heavy men's gold wedding ring and I tried it on and guess what, it fit perfectly later I went to a private beach and I just started detecting (without permission) soon a life guard said I could not metal detect here. I asked why he said that you just couldn't. so I said I would go up near the swings. next the beach owner came over and asked me to stop. well after a little discussion I said as soon as i dug this quarter I would leave. I dug up the quarter and had a white grease bucket that had my clothes in. I threw the quarter in and carried the bucket like it was heavy loaded with many coins. I am sure that to this day she wonders how many coins I must have taken out of her beach before she stopped me.I would recommend white metel detectors and mine lab. I am still working, so I don't have much time to go out in the field or beaches, but I do it as often as i can and even though there times when it seems it is a big waste of time it is that one gold coin or ring or even a few coins that make it worth while. Believe me once you have tried it your hooked!!!
